The promise of the Maker Movement is to transform consumers into makers. In my opinion, the Maker Movement is an effort to return to the basics, especially surrounding the education system. Essentially, the Maker Movement thrives as a community based on open source learning, in which people can easily obtain technical know-how through DIY aids, such as tutorial videos like this one:
The Maker Movement is promising for the development of superior technical know-how, however, seems to be deficient in the development of academic analytical skills.
